Every tenth or twelfth month the décor hanged in the house is usually changed with a new
piece of art. Many people do this practice to keep up with the latest trends.
A balance between old culture and the latest modern trends was what we were looking for.
And that’s how Kalavind’s new persona was formed. Pursuing the laws of old culture allows
us to sync our ethics with the circle of life. Each product is carefully made with resources
taken from the earth. We use the materials such as wooden cut-outs, paint, clay and mirrors.
Quality over quantity- we create limited art pieces and even customise them as per your
choice of colour and pattern so that they are loved and appreciated longer. Our team is
powered by the local artisans of Kutch, Bhuj. Big corporations have run local artists and
craftsmen out of business - leading to a loss of domestic craftsmanship and artists. The art
pieces at Kalavind are made by the skilful artisans to support and provide employment to
who are either unemployed or unable to manage in the new business world.
At Kalavind, we believe in preserving and empowering the best of what our ancient tradition
has to offer, and also ensure a better, cleaner and most importantly, a longer future for
generations to come. We are on a journey to merge the best of old culture and new modern
trends. We hope you join us and #beKalastic.
We believe in sustainability - not just for the planet but also the people who inhabit it. We
support local indigenous craftsmen especially female artisans to continue their practice of
creating beautiful art, sustainably. Our aim is to preserve both our environment, and our
ancient tradition of craftsmanship.
